SNG Strategy, The Preface

Instead of publishing my strategy guide all at once, I've decided to publish it in sections. I'm doing this for a couple of reasons: 1. I don't have the entire guide written yet. I have a lot of it written but I keep having conversations in my head about things I want to talk about and 2. It's going to be a few pages in length and it'll be good, I think, to publish the sections seperately in order to find a particular section easily based on the title of the blog post. Here is the tentitive table of contents:

1. General philosophy
2. Sizing up the competition
3. Early game
4. Mid game
5. Bubble play
6. The bubble breaks
7. Heads up
8. Wrapping it up

This guide will be aimed at beginning players who at least understand the mechanics of the game. It WON'T contain starting hand charts and the like, but more of my philosphy in different situations. I hope somebody, ANYBODY, will get something out of this. I know I have; just by writing these things down and the thought processes behind them have make me truly believe it's a winning strategy.

Look for section 1 soon and, since I never get comments on my blog, if you read it and have criticism, good or bad, please leave me a note.

Turbo overload

Holy cow, I've probably played about a 15-18 turbos over the past few days and I'm definitely on fire. I'm in the money well over 50% and I've probably won 5 outright. Of course you notice how all these are approximations since I stopped tracking my actual progress a long time ago. I know I should and I probably will start soon. I guess I use my account balance as my gauge of progress.

You guys won't believe this, since I'm always writing about lofty goals and shit that I never end up publishing, but HONESTLY, I'm working on a SNG strategy guide and already have a couple of pages done. It's nothing earth shattering but I think it's pretty good, nonetheless. Look for it soon...Really!

Turbos

I've never been a fan of turbos because of the usual reasons you hear; the levels go up so quick it's pretty much a push fest. You know, I still feel there is a greater element of luck than standard SNG's, but maybe it's not as much as I thought. I mean, you still can play a relatively tight game early while the lunatics knock each other out. A classic example tonight: this dude entered and immediately sat out and never played a SINGLE hand and finished 4th! Of course mayble this change of heart is due to my running good in the 10 or so turbos I've played the past couple of days. I'll probably keep 2 tabling low limit turbos for the next few days and see where that takes me. If I keep running goot I'll move up, if not I'll stay where I am or move back to the standards.
